Mother of winter

shelter us all from hunger and cold ,

into your loving arms we enfold  

as the night falls and our hands are froze ,

out on the streets as the wild wind blows

 Mother of winter

we all need shelter sometimes you see

it could even be some poor family ,

who have fallen on hard times out there

any one of us could  need shelter.

 

 

Mother of winter

shelter us from the rain and the snow ,

shelter us from pain that we know .

shelter us from danger on the street ,

shelter us when we’ve nothing to eat .

 

 

Mother of winter

when everything is going wild   

bring us the warmth of a friendly smile  

into our minds bring us peace and love

and a miracle from God above    .

there is no other that I can turn to

for help , there’s only you

and no other could do

all he miraculous things you do .

  show me how to find a way somehow ,

to change the minds of all those

who won’t accept the truth

and open the eyes of those who are closed .

give me prudence in my thoughts ,

so innocence will not be lost

because love has redeemed

all of the debt and paid the ultimate cost

when trouble comes

there is no other but you

that I can turn to

only you and no other could

ever do all the things you do .

my head is humbly bowed ,

but see how how loud and angry are

the proud ,

they are a boisterous noise within clouds

where raini is s not allowed .

may your gentleness be found

in the maddening crowd ,

and may love fall like rain

to cleanse the hearts of the might y and proud

upon a snowy place

help those lonely people 

who try to hide 

be like the shadow

standing at their side , 

when the  dark clouds 

gather then they will know 

the comforting grace 

there in your shadow .

in the bright sunlight   ,

with the blue mantle 

of the sky in sight ,

somewhere beyond this 

world there you depart 

to the  sidewalks of the soul 

in our heart .

you see the homeless 

with no food to eat ,

bring hope to them 

on the sidewalks of the street  .

it’s cold and dark 

when no one seems to care ,

but you are the  answer 

to every prayer .
