Like so many times before

your protection we implore  

when the wolf is at the door .

Your name we always mention

and pray for intervention

from the trouble and tension .

When the devils on our back

and we are under attack

send your armour to protect .

If we are trapped in a flood

or there’s trouble in the blood

you’ve always done what you could .

of seeing someone you love

being punished .

Ask you son to fill the spaces when I feel      

Empty and unreached   .

You know the loneliness of silence

And the hurt that dwells inside .

Help me to close my eyes

and bury the feelings that I can’t hide .

Even though you suffered in silence 

You were able to forgive .

So that a greater love would be seen by all .

To encourage and strengthen us

with the things we have to go through ,.

All your love was poured out

only to have seen it abused by those

filled with hatred and bitterness too .

Be with all who have lost loved ones

and cannot understand why they have been

abandoned by those they love .

Bring hope to those who cannot find their way  

and in the darkness around them

 shine down your light from above .
